Famous IPL cricket team Mumbai Indians want to connect with fans using NFT.

Indiawin Sports which manages Mumbai Indians has raised RFP (Request for Proposal) from global & Indian tech companies to help them launch team based NFTs based on the existing Intellectual Property (IP) Rights.

5 times IPL champion, Mumbai Indians have a loyal fanbase. It has 7.9 million followers on Twitter and 10.9 million followers on Instagram. The Reliance backed team is known to be among the top challengers in every IPL season.

If we look at the Indian market, we have players like FanCraze & Rario dominating in the NFT segment, especially cricket. Both the NFT marketplaces have deep pockets and a library of licensed NFT collectibles issued by ICC & BCCI (cricket boards).

2022 hasn’t been friendly for the Indian crypto industry but NFT is largely becoming a darling feature when it comes to attracting a loyal fanbase.

Polygon (MATIC), the layer-2 scaling solution with roots in India has helped top brands like Starbucks scale their loyalty program using NFTs. Mumbai Indian seems to be the first IPL team seriously looking to use the technology to their advantage.

The RFP include eligibility requirements, submissions of bids and the process around it. Companies can get RFP by paying the non-refundable payment of INR 100,000. Valid till 17th Jan 2023.
