A new generation of layer-1 blockchains are about to debut this year and MONAD seems to have caught the interest of retail investors ahead of its launch. There are rumors about project presale, MONAD airdrop & mining. Let’s address them in this post.
What is MONAD crypto?
MONAD is a decentralized layer-1 EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible blockchain. It aims to offer 10,000 tps (transactions per second) and 1 second finality by integrating MonadBFT consensus mechanism which is by far one of the best in the POS chains.
Focused on performance, the blockchain is written from scratch in C++ and RUST which makes it easier for developers to migrate and build projects on chain.
MONAD and EVM compatibility:
MONAD is one of the few chains that offers full byte code compatibility for EVMs. This feature allows dapps to migrate from Ethereum to MONAD without code changes and guarantees Ethereum RPC compatibility.
This feature alone is enough to allow infrastructures like MetaMask or Etherscan to work seamlessly on MONAD.
MONAD uses parallel execution & Superscalar pipelining to improves performance.
MONAD vs Ethereum:
Here’s the key differences between MONAD and Ethereum –
Attributes | MONAD | ETH |
TPS | 10,000 | 1000 |
Block Time | 1s | 13s |
Consensus | MonadBFT | Gasper |
Delegation allowed | Yes | No |
How to mine MONAD crypto?
You cannot mine MONAD crypto tokens. MONAD runs on MonadBFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) which support Proof-of-Stake consensus that require validators to support the mechanism.
How to run a node on MONAD?
Check the minimum hardware requirements to run a node on MONAD:
- Processor: 16 core
- Memory: 32 GB RAM
- Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD
- Bandwidth: 100 Mb/s

MONAD testnet & mainnet are awaiting launch
Summary:
MONAD crypto project is a layer-1 chain focused on filling the gaps left unchecked by Ethereum. In short, its the better clone of Ethereum which reminds me of PulseChain.
It is backed by top VCs like Shima Capital and has raised $19 million till date. The project is well funded & yet to launch its mainnet. Keep checking the blog for more updates on MONAD.
This completes my post on MONAD crypto. In the next post, I will talk about Yotoshi YOTO crypto & Dymension crypto. Remember to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more informative content, released every week.
